SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
My legislative office is proud to offer scholarships to college students that are from District 39. To date, my office has awarded $109,000 in scholarships. View the requirements and download the application below.

Thank you for your interest in applying for the scholarship award! The application is now open until May 15, 2025 the 2025-2026 academic school year. To be eligible for this award, the applicant MUST:

Be a resident of Maryland’s Legislative District 39. Confirm that you are a District 39 resident here: http://www.mdelect.net

Be accepted or enrolled as full- or part-time students at a college or university in Maryland (NOTE: We cannot offer scholarships to students attending schools outside of Maryland.)

Have completed 100 hours of community service

Provide the following information: name, date of birth, last four digits of your Social Security number, address, phone number, name of major, name of institution, degree to be earned, and recent Grade Point Average.

Official transcript from your high school or other institution

Letter of recommendation from teacher, professor, school counselor, employer, volunteer work supervisor

A copy of SAT/ACT (if they are not indicated on your transcript)

A copy of your letter of acceptance

Answer the following questions in one essay, in less than 1,000 words:

Reasons for applying for scholarship and how it will impact the opportunity to attend college.

Qualifications and experience of demonstrating leadership skills or qualities and impact on self or others.

Qualifications and experience of demonstrating personal responsibility and positive impact on self or others.

Education and career goals and how will receiving a legislative scholarship helps you reach your goals.

Adversity, hardship or challenges you or your family have faced in funding your education.

Provide a list of scholarships, grants, or other forms of financial aid that you have applied for or have been awarded; awards, honors, or academic or athletic accomplishments received; and description of your volunteer work.
All majors are eligible. Exceptions will be made for applicants pursuing a “unique major” recognized by the Maryland General Assembly Higher Education Commission (MHEC). For more information, please see the “unique major” link on MHEC’s website: www.mhec.maryland.gov.

Any application that is submitted without all the required documentation will not be considered.
